General Information Panel

Provide information about yourself, your company, who you are preparing the specification for and the project.

This information will be used on the cover page that is provided with the specification.

Note: Both the specification and cover page will be fully editable giving you the ability to make changes later.

Warranty Panel

Duro-Last offers a wide variety of warranties and sample warranties may be found on the Duro-Last website at www.duro-last.com.

Choose one of the warranty option shown on this panel. When chosen, several of the warranties, such as the '15 + 5' will show you information about the warranty, including special requirement that may pertain.

If you choose a warranty with high wind coverage you will be asked to provide the maximum wind speed for coverage.

If you choose a warranty with hail coverage you will be shown insulation and cover board requirements.

Note: All 20-Year and Hail warranties require that the roof membrane have a minimum thickness of 50 mils.

Fire and Wind Panel

Fire Classification - Choose the external fire classification appropriate for your project. In the next panel you will describe the roof assembly and it is important to understand that it will be possible to describe a roof assembly that does not meet the fire rating you specify here. If you need assistance in defining a roof assembly to meet specific performance criteria, contact Duro-Last.

Wind Uplift Resistance Criteria - This selection defines how the roof assembly will be attached in order to resist expected wind loads. It is recommended that you utilize the ASCE-7 Specification, which is called for in the International Building Code (IBC), and only choose the Factory Mutual (FM) option if the building is insured by FM Global.

As with the fire classification, the Specification Generator does not ensure that the roof assembly that you define in the next panel will meet the wind uplift resistance that you define here. If you need assistance in defining a roof system to meet specific performance criteria, contact Duro-Last.

Roof Assembly Panel

NOTE - When you make a selection from any of the drop-down menus on this panel the 'Panel Specific Help Tab', which you are currently looking at, will disappear and be replaced by the 'Roof System View Tab'. You can redisplay this help tab by choosing it above. You can toggle back and forth between tabs without affecting your roof assembly selections.

CANCEL Button - If you need to close this panel and go back to the previous panel choose the CANCEL button. This will clear any selections you have made for the roof system.

SUBMIT INFO Button - Once all of the drop-down menus have check marks () next to them you are ready to click the SUBMIT INFO Button and move to the next panel.

Roof Assembly Image - The roof assembly image that is created as you define the roof assembly is for illustration purpose only and is not intended to be used for any other purpose. It will be included on the cover page of the specification page created.

Note - In some cases the roof assembly image may not match the roof system you need to define. Continue to define the specification and then simply delete the image from the cover page of the specification document.

Attachment Menus - Attachment Menus will become available after selecting roof system components drop-down menus allowing you to define how each component will be attached. Like all other menus, you must select an option before the next roof component is unlocked.

Construction Type - The construction type chosen will be used to determine options available in the other roof assembly selection menus.

Note: - Tear off is treated the same as new construction. You will need to edit the specification document if you wish to elaborate on the roof system to be removed.

Roof Deck - Choose the underlying roof deck. If you chose Metal Retrofit for construction type a metal roof deck will be selected and the drop down menu will be locked.

Flute Filler - This pull-down menu will only display if you chose 'Metal Roof Retrofit' as the construction type. Flute filler is used to provide a level surface for overlying insulation or cover boards.

Existing Roof - This pull-down menu will only display if you chose .'Overlay Existing System' as the construction type. If none of the options adequately describe the existing roof system, pick something similar and then modify the specification document.

Board / Slip Sheet - The board or slip sheet chosen in this pull-down menu will be placed directly on the roof deck, existing roof or flute filler.

Insulation 1 - If you will be utilizing insulation select a product from this drop-down menu.

If you will not be using insulation select 'Not Applicable' and notice that both the 'Insulation 2' and 'Insulation Cover Board / Slip Sheet' menus will be automatically set to 'Not Applicable'.

Insulation 2 - This drop-down menu will only be unlocked if you selected an insulation product in 'Insulation 1'. It is intended to give you the opportunity to utilize 2 different types of insulation within the roof assembly. For example, you might choose tapered Duro-Guard Type VIII EPS in the 'Insulation 1' menu and then cover it with Duro-Guard ISO II chosen the in 'Insulation 2' menu.

Tip - If you are using only one type of insulation but wish to show two layers of it on the roof assembly image, choose the same type of insulation in both the 'Insulation 1' and 'Insulation 2' menus.

Insulation Cover Board / Slip Sheet - This drop-down menu will only be unlocked if you selected an insulation product in 'Insulation 1'.

Roof Membrane - Choose the roof membrane and method of attachment for the assembly and you should be ready to click the SUBMIT INFO button.

Insulation Criteria Panel

This panel allows you to define criteria for the insulation system.

If you chose a tapered insulation product in the Roof Assembly panel, you will see radio buttons that will allow you to define the slope of the insulation.

You can also set the criteria for the R-Value or thickness of the insulation. Three options are available:

  • Minimum R-value
  • Average R-value (often used in for taper systems)
  • Minimum Thickness

Roofing System Accessories Panel

This panel allows you to choose specific accessory items which will be listed in Part 2 of the specification.

You will notice that some items have already been selected based on the choices you made in the Roof Assembly panel as well as common items used on most projects.

Please note: Some of the items will get reset if you go back into the Roof Assembly panel. If you make accessory selections and then change the roof assembly you should double check the accessories to ensure that your selections are correct.

Request Downloads Panel

This panel gives you several choices of items to download.

  • Proprietary Duro-Last Specification: Specification calls out for Duro-Last and it's product line.

  • Generic Thermoplastic PVC Specification: Specification calls out for products identical to those chosen without reference to Duro-Last or Duro-Last proprietary product names.

  • Product Data Sheets: Product data sheets for the materials chosen emailed to you in a 'ZIP' file.

Email

Each Item checked will be sent in a separate email.
